I spoke to Ben from Sydney band Glass Towers this week. We discussed festivals, what's in store for 2013 and pubs and clubs.
You are supporting Maximo Park in January. Would you be able to tell me a bit more about that? How did that come about?
There's no real story, I think they just chose us because they like our music.
I have heard Glass Tower's sound be described multiple times as "British", particularly the guitar riffs. What are your thoughts about that? Are you strongly influenced by British bands?
We're all massive fans of British music and British bands have influenced us a lot in the past, I would be lying if I said otherwise. Though the Two Door Cinema Club comparison people have been tagging onto our latest single is strange, we've never actually listened to them.
What is in store for Glass Towers in 2013?
We're going to SXSW as well as some East and West Coast US dates. Then going to be most likely releasing our EP in Japan and hoping to play some shows over there as well. The big one is our debut album which shall be coming out sometime in the year.
What can audiences expect from you live shows?
Lots of energy and lots of spiced rum.
Where is your favourite place to go and have a beverage on a Sunday?
The Cricketers Arms in Surry Hills.
What's your go to choice of drink?
Double shot of Sailor Jerry with Ginger Ale.
Where is the best place to check out live music?
I actually really like Goodgod, plus they have great Mexican there.
If you were going out for a dance where would you go?
Haha we're probably not the best band to answer that question, none of us enjoy clubbing at all.
And lastly who are you looking forward to seeing at Peats Ridge Festival?
Glass Towers are playing The Peats Ridge Festival, 29th Dec - 1st Jan, you can buy tickets here.
They are also supporting Maximo Park in January you can buy tickets to those gigs here.
Rachel xx
