Melody's Echo Chamber

Paris based singer songwriter Melody Prochet may not be a name you know. But the gentlemen who produced her album definitely will be. Since bumping into Kevin Parker, the front man of Tame Impala, Melody has supported Tame Impala through Europe. Plus moved in with the Perth based boys for a couple of months to create her first album with new band, Melody’s Echo Chamber.

The synth infused, self-titled album sees Melody both write and arrange the songs. While Parker stepped back from usual role as front man to play not just bass but drums as well.  Although not as psychedelic as Tame Impala’s sound, there is still a psychedelic element to the tunes.  The album, made up of longer tracks that clock in at around 4-5 minutes, showcases this Parisian lasses soft, hypnotic voice. Stand out tracks would have to be Crystallized, which was floating around late June. Plus my personal favourite Be Proud of Your Kids, featuring an awesome French kid talking – although I have no idea what he is saying. Some songs can sound a little bit too repetitive but the assortment of both French and English tracks is definitely something new for Australia. Melody’s Echo Chamber is definitely for a niche audience, however their fuzzy-pop album is out October 12.
